I thought I had outsmarted them. I was wrong. Here's what I found in my garden two days ago:

So apparently the deer have figured out that my fence is only 6 feet high, and that they can easily jump over it. However, in the spirit of Mr. McGreely (from the children's book, "Muncha, Muncha, Muncha!" - the best gardening book ever), I will not be deer-feated! I will raise a HIGHER fence, so that only the most ATHLETIC deer can get in to my tomato patch! And I will trick them with tall bamboo so they think the fence is 12 feet tall, so only the SMART deer can get in!
(This will work, right? I am smarter than wild members of the Caprinae family, yes?)
