Vines Gone Wild!

I may not be able to grow everything, but apparently I can grow vines.  Vines everywhere!  In some places, TOO MANY vines.  Sometimes beautiful, sometimes fruitful, sometimes architectural, vines are always wonderful.  Here are some that we have growing now.

Morning glories - even before they flower they're beautiful.

But when they flower, it's glorious!

I bet you can see the family resemblance between the morning glories and this plant.  Do you know what it is?
It's sweet potatoes!  Not a true potato, it's in the morning glory (Convulvulaceae) family.  Now you know!

Now here's a flowering vine called Spanish Flag.  It has little flag-shaped red, orange, and light yellow flowers (it started flowering just a few days after this picture was taken.  I'll try to remember to post a pic of that later).

Muscadine - a volunteer that grew in just the right place to cover the rain catcher.  Hoping for some fruit next year.

Malabar spinach - yum!

Grape vine

Ivy (and a volunteer tomato vine) and few other things that I cannot identify.

And the grand finale: moonflower!

Vines for food, fun, and beauty.  If you don't have any growing in your yard, it's a "vine" time to start!
