Seeds: Hope in Small Packages

We’ve passed the winter solstice and the days are already getting longer. Believe it or not, spring is on the way! It’ll soon be time to plant peas and onion seeds, and in just a few weeks we’ll get the heirloom tomatoes started in the mini hoop houses. It’s cold outside, but there’s hope inside!
Last year I ordered seeds from Sow True Seeds in Asheville, NC because I wanted to find a seed provider that was close geographically and focused on caring for the earth by specializing in open-pollinated, organic, and heirloom seeds.

We save seeds from our heirloom beans, tomatoes, and many of our herbs. It’s great to have a trusted provider for the crops you haven’t perfected the ability to save seeds from yet. I recommend Sow True Seeds to you (for everything except what you can get from us!).

So what can you look forward to from Little Farm in the Hood this year?

Texas Early Grano (HUGE!) Onions
Petite ‘n Sweet Carrots (Carrot Candy)
Beauregard Sweet Potatoes
Malabar Spinach
Bloomsdale Long Standing Spinach
5 different heirloom varieties of tomatos
Rattlesnake Beans inherited from Amie’s grandad’s garden
Sweet Peppers and Hot Peppers
Peanuts
And more!

Seeds are hope-filled prophets of future bounty. The act of order seeds is an embrace of that hope. May your heart be filled with great expectations this New Year as well.
