Beans, Beans, Good for...well, you know.

The Hair Club for Men has just released it's newest line of "Going Green" hair pieces!  For all you balding men who love God's creation, this is the answer you've been looking for!

Or maybe not.  But these Asian long beans ARE the answer for a great stir fry!  They can grow up to 3 feet long and hang beautifully off a trellis.  This is our first year to grow these beauties (thanks, Wilbert, for donating the plants!).

I'd also like to give a shout out to Rattlesnake beans like these.  An oldtimer (ahem...Amie's dad) told us these would produce right up to frost, but we've had trouble believing him.  They've produced amazingling, but do seem to go for a while then take a (long) break, then start up again.  I was ready to pull them out of the ground yesterday, but my daughter said, "Hey dad, I see some more rattlesnake beans!"  I told her to go ahead and pick a few.  Turned out to be a whole mess of green beans in those plants!  This is their third go at producing bean pods this summer.  Wonder if there be a fourth before frost...

So the garden lesson for the day is: don't give up...and listen to them old-timers.
